King's home state of Georgia was under the national spotlight in 2021 after Rev. Raphael Warnock became its first Black U.S. Senator. At the same time, another Peach State leader, Daniel Blackman, has picked up the baton to continue the fight for civil rights in the spirit of Dr. King.

The most controversial candidate on the ballot in my native Forsyth County, Georgia, about 40 miles north of Atlanta, is not Donald Trump. It’s Daniel Blackman, a Democrat running for the state senate, who is notable simply for being on the ballot at all.

Blackman will lead the implementation of the Biden-Harris environmental agenda in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and with 6 Tribes.
