Meet Daniel

Daniel Blackman is the son of the late Staff Sgt. Rudolph Blackman who served as a United States Army Ranger and Diana Blackman who served as Directorate of Contracting for the United States Army. He was educated through the Muscogee County School District, spending his early years on Fort Benning, GA.  His wife Jeanelle, an Alum of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, is a native of Petersburg, Virginia.  She is the daughter of Rhonda Bullock, a former educator, and Colonel David Thomas Bullock who retired from the Pentagon.  An Alum of Clark Atlanta, Daniel and his family currently reside in Cumming, Georgia.

Daniel was the 2014 Democratic Nominee for Georgia’s Public Service Commission and accumulated 1.1 million votes. He has over 10 years of public and intergovernmental affairs experience and has helped to advance some of America’s most distinguished agencies and organizations including the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Green Building Council, the Georgia Conservancy, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Energy, City of Atlanta’s Office of Sustainability, and was appointed by retired Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears to the Georgia Supreme Court Commission on Children, Marriage and Family Law.

 

Additionally, Mr. Blackman was appointed by the Chairman of the National Wildlife Federation to serve on an Environmental Policy Commission co-sponsored by members of the United States Congress to address renewable energy and public health issues in disadvantaged communities throughout America.

 

As a business owner, he manages his company with the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability, using the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems. Daniel has built an uncanny reputation for advising national leaders, corporate partners, and foundations on how to build their influence, catalyze innovation, and mobilize communities.  Here are a few examples of his work:

 

  • Working with Civic Nation, a partner organization which supports the White House inorganizing, engagement and public awareness to address some of our nation’s most pressing challenges.
  • Supporting Every Kid in a Parkand President Obama’s commitment to protect our nation’s unique outdoor spaces and ensure that every American has the opportunity to visit and enjoy them. The “Every Kid in a Park Initiative” allows fourth graders nationwide to obtain a pass for free entry for them and their families to more than 2,000 federally managed lands and waters.
  • Advocating for It’s On Uswhich is a led by Vice President Biden, working to end sexual assault on college campuses nationwide.  It’s On Us asks everyone — men and women across America — to make a personal commitment to step off the sidelines and be part of the solution to campus sexual assault.

 

Daniel was named a 2010 Outstanding Atlanta recipient, is a member of the 2011 Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership and the 2012 LEAD Atlanta class, Board Member at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, and helped to establish a Georgia Coalition comprised of members across the political spectrum who use common ground to empower American consumers to unlock America’s full energy potential.
